Eagle Bike Park in Idaho - Progress for 2008

Jan 20, 2009 at 20:56
by Brad Nelson
In 2008 we started building a bike park in Eagle Idaho (Boise area) and we wanted to show the Pinkbike community what we have accomplished so far. Stop in and check us out on your way to Whistler next year - or wherever your bike may take you.

The bike park is the result of 4000 hours of volunteer work and financial support from the city of Eagle, SWIMBA, and many others in the community. Judd deVall and Alpine Bike Parks designed and created phase one of the park which included 3 jump lines and a pump track (designed and installed by Randy Spangler) as well as a dual slalom and mountain cross course (designed and installed by Eric Carter).Local volunteers have expanded phase one by installing beginner and intermediate dirt jumps, a skills park, and a grass area with trees for a hang out. The expert line (Sage Fright) has also been extended with 6 more jumps - now 13 jumps total on the line. The last 3 still need some more work though - we were shut down by snow.

Plans for the future include expert dirt jumps, north shore lines, downhill courses, and longer resort style freeride trails. Hopefully we can drum up some more money to make it happen.

Here are some pics and a video showing what has been accomplished so far:

To get to the park, go north on Old Horseshoe Bend Road in Eagle until you see the park on your right.

For real this park is amazing! I was a BMXer for the longest time, and I saw this place and decided to buy a mtb. I'm so glad we have a park like this to ride at. Its always a good time and everyone (for the most part) is willing to help us build, and make things really nice. I wanna give a shout out to Brad and the rest of the crew for dedicating so much time out of your lives to make this happen! You guys rock! Lets keep building and I'll see you all this spring!!

That park looks sick. It looks like it could even be better than The Ranch in Kamloops. But whoever edited the video needs to get schooled, because The Killers are a steaming pile of Lame.

You look over the music collection on my wives Macintosh and see if you can find a better song. Steaming pile of Lame - thats a good one.

a skills park that actually looks awesome! ours in the vancouver area kinda suck, except for the burnaby one, but this park looks like it has actual flow over those jumps. awesome job!

I noticed you guys are working on the skills park... well theres no snow now, so build the jumps. it's easier to move dirt around here when its nice and moist from melted snow, rather than the end of summer when its rock hard!

Maybe this post should say "hey, can I help you build some jumps?" If you haven't joined the volunteer crew, email bafvolunteers at gmail.com. We aren't really doing jumps in the skills area though - mostly skinnies and drops. We have plenty of jumps in the other section of the park.

How about "it would be cool if I could spend of my time helping you guys build some stuff out at the park since I live in Boise." Just a heads up, builders don't ever really enjoy hearing the "you guys should do this or that when I haven't really contributed myself" clause. Join the volunteers and bring some of your ideas and talent to the table instead.

is there dh trails? and what city is closest to this place?
  • 3 0
DH trail is in planning stages but there will be more than one. Closest town is Eagle, Idaho. Boise, is only about 5 miles east of Eagle.
